BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - INDIANA HEADS TO PRE-NCAAS
Indiana heads into the most important part of the season as it travels to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Pre-NCAAs on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. This is the same course the NCAA Championships (Nov. 21) will be held, and the second consecutive year Terre Haute has hosted the event. Last year IU finished eighth out of 37 teams, led by then-sophomore Jessica Gall who took 15th place overall. There will be 80 teams with 815 runners including eight Big Ten teams, No. 20 Illinois, Iowa, No. 5 Michigan, No. 29 Michigan State, No. 11 Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin.
HOOSIERS FINISH 16th AT NOTRE DAME INVITE
The Hoosiers traveled to South Bend for the 50th annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30. IU finished 16th in a tough 24-team field featuring some of the best teams in the Midwest region. Michigan took first place overall, placing four runners in the top twenty, beating Illinois 77 to 82.
INDIANA FINISHES 15TH AT GRIAK INVITATIONAL
The No. 22 Hoosiers traveled to Minneapolis, Minn., and Les Bolstad Golf Course for the 20th-annual Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24. IU finished 15th in a competitive field that included 31 teams and 287 runners from across the country. All-American senior Jessica Gall finished first for the Hoosiers and 35th overall with a time of 22:03.
IU TAKES HOME INDIANA INTERCOLLEGIATES TITLE
Paced by a strong effort from freshman Wendi Robinson, the Hoosiers won the Intercollegiates for the second time in three years. Robinson, finished the 5K race in 18:16 to earn fifth place overall. Indiana pulled out the victory, despite the absence of junior All-American Jessica Gall.
RETURNING ALL-AMERICAN
Junior Jessica Gall headlines the returning letterwinners for Indiana. Gall became just the eighth female runner in school history to earn All-American honors during the cross country season when she finished in 18th place at NCAA's.
BACK HOME AGAIN IN INDIANA
The Hoosiers have a travel friendly schedule this season, leaving the state only three times. The team will travel to Minneapolis, Minn once during the regular season and once for the Big Ten Championships, and will take a trip to Chicago for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational.
HOMEGROWN TALENT
This year's squad is loaded with talent from across Indiana with nine runners hailing from the Hoosier state. That number also includes two Bloomington natives, sophomore Maura Ratcliff (South) and freshman Lydia Serfling (North).
UP NEXT
The Hoosiers head to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, Oct. 15. The Big Ten has four teams ranked in the top 30, led by No. 5 Minnesota.
