IU Athletics Holds Football Essay Contest

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University Athletics is holding the third annual football essay contest, allowing students (grades 1-6) the opportunity to explain what Indiana Football means to them. The students will be divided into three divisions - division one consisting of first and second graders, division two made up of third and fourth graders and division three holding fifth and sixth graders.
To enter the contest, students have the opportunity to answer one of the following questions (any question may be answered for each division):
- If you could play any position, what position would you play and why? - IU athletes study subjects like science, math and english, what is your favorite school subject and why? - Coach Terry Hoeppner and the Hoosiers are implementing new football traditions like "The Walk" and "The Rock" this year. What does the word "tradition" mean to you?
One first-place winner and runner up will be awarded in each of the three divisions. The first-place winners will receive four tickets to see Indiana battle Minnesota at Memorial Stadium on Nov. 5, a free one-year membership to the Hoosier Kids Club and an autographed coach Hoeppner poster. Runner-up finishers will receive the free one-year membership to the Kids Club and the autographed coach Hoeppner poster.
Essays should not exceed 500 words and must be received no later than Friday, Oct 21. Be sure to include your first and last name, name of your school, name of your teacher, your grade and your phone number. Essays can be returned by fax to 812-855-2447, by email to meeallen@indiana.edu or by mail to the following address:
