BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 4-1 Hoosiers hit the field on Wednesday in preparation for Saturday's Big Ten showdown against Iowa. Indiana travels to Iowa's Kinnick Stadium (70,397) in Iowa City, Iowa for an 11 a.m. EST/CDT kick off. The game will be televised live by ESPN Plus.
Junior safety Will Meyers
On Iowa:
"It's going really well. We are feeling sharp. We have had two good days of practice. Guys are flying around out here and making some great plays. We have a lot of confidence going into Iowa. We are going to have to make our assignments and tackle. Tackling is going to be key this game, and we are going to have to do it a lot better than we did the last game. Iowa has some playmakers. Their quarterback is tough, and we have to put a lot of pressure on him. "
On being 4-1 so far this season:
"It feels great. We've worked hard to be where we are, but we are not satisfied by any means. We still have a lot to prove, and we are excited to do so."
Senior offensive lineman Adam Hines
On Iowa:
"It's been great. The coaches put together a really good plan for the week. We came in yesterday and had probably the best Tuesday practice we've had all year and backed it up with another great one today. We still have things we will correct on our mental day tomorrow, but overall we are having a great week and are where we wanted to be. Against Iowa, we have to keep our composure. Iowa is a hostile place to play so we have to focus on eliminating the mistakes you can control. We have to get this win in Iowa. We are 4-1 now but have a long ways to go. This is another step in the road for us, and we have been working really hard this week to come home 5-1."
On the offensive line:
"We are meshing and working really well together. I think that our working well together, the consistency and the veteran leadership has been important to the success we have had so far."
Assistant Coach Billy Lynch
On the preparation for Iowa:
"I think the preparation has been really good so far. I thought yesterday was the best Tuesday we have had in a game week, and we followed it up with a really beneficial practice today. Iowa is a tough team and Iowa City is a tough place to play, but we are coming off a good win and have a lot of confidence and momentum going into Saturday. Like Coach Hoeppner always says, this is the biggest game this week because it's the only game. There are so few games in football that every win is critical. Russ Richardson told the seniors today that there are only 44 days of guaranteed football left, so every day counts."
On the receivers:
"I think our receivers have been very important to this team. With the offensive system we want to run, we are spreading it around and throwing the ball and having success doing so. The important thing in all of this is that this receiving corps has continued to get better and better every week. That is key in our offense. Going into Iowa, we know they are a good defense, they've been running that defense for a while and they have their defense down. The one thing they don't like to do is give up the big play. We are going to have to be patient, catch the ball, get some yards after the catch and line up to do it again."
