WHTI-FM Joins IU Football Radio Network

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head football coach Terry Hoeppner has repeatedly said that the Hoosiers' tremendous fan support, particularly at home games at Memorial Stadium, has contributed to their success (4-1 record) this season. Even more IU fans will now have the opportunity to follow the Hoosiers both home and away, as Muncie-Anderson-based WHTI-FM (96.7) has joined the Indiana Football Radio Network. WHTI will carry the radio network's pre-game and post-game shows, in addition to the in-game broadcast for the six remaining regular season games.
The radio network's growth is one of the many ways in which IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan wants to "reach out" to Hoosier fans.
"Coach (Terry) Hoeppner, his staff and players have been very productive on the field, in the classroom and in the community," Greenspan said. "We certainly appreciate the way that fans have shown their support of all of our programs, and we thank IU Sports Properties and WHTI for their assistance in giving our fans the extensive coverage that the fans deserve."
IU Sports Properties (IUSP) General Manager Bob Agramonte said that IU Athletics and IUSP are constantly looking for ways to maximize coverage in the Indianapolis market.
"WHTI, to go along with its sister station (and current network affiliate) WHBU-AM, reinforces our presence in the northeast suburbs of Indianapolis," Agramonte said. "We do our best to reach out to as many fans as possible."
Hoeppner said that the addition of WHTI helps spread the message that he has conveyed to IU fans for the last 10 months.
"From the day I arrived at Indiana (Dec. 17), the response from the students, alumni and fans throughout the state has been incredible," Hoeppner said. ""On behalf of the players and coaches, I want to thank all the Hoosier Nation for their continuing support. It is truly a privilege to coach at The Indiana University, because it isn't a good school, it's a GREAT school. Our football team is off to a good start, but we have to keep building. Fans are an important part to that equation, and if you can't make it to "The Rock," or follow us on the road, listen to Don Fischer (play-by-play), Pete Compise (color) and Joe Smith (pregame, halftime and postgame) on the IU Radio Network."
