BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The honors keep rolling in for sophomore goalkeeper Haley Exner. The 5-11 San Diego, Calif., native notched two more honors to her already long string of accolades this season. Exner earned her third Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor and the womensfieldhockey.com Player of the Week award as announced by both the Big Ten Conference and womensfieldhockey.com on Monday.
Exner, who led the Hoosiers with a pair of wins over No. 13 Louisville and No. 9 Ohio State last week, added an impressive 26 saves to her already impressive save totals. Against an aggressive Buckeyes offense, Exner recorded a career-high 16 saves, allowing only one goal in the 2-1, double-overtime win. Exner, who has started all 14 games in goal for the Hoosiers, currently leads the Big Ten in save percentage (.823) and is one win away from being the winningest goalkeeper in program history. Additionally, she holds the single-season record for most victories (13). For the year, Exner has recorded 79 saves and a goals against average of 1.60.
Exner and the Hoosiers are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Iowa. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Iowa City, Iowa. Fans can follow the Hoosier-Hawkeyes matchup through the Gametracker link on IUHOOSIERS.com.
