My name is Kristen Zmijewski and I am a senior on the Indiana women's soccer team. I have been charged with this year's senior diary. I hope to give the fans and future recruits a glimpse into my senior year, and just the overall life of a Hoosier soccer player. Throughout the season you will be reading a few journal entries, some thoughts and little updates about how the season is going so far.

-Journal Entry #4-
This past week, we were on the road again. This time the IU Women's soccer team headed out to Northwestern and Wisconsin. I was pretty excited to play at Northwestern because I am from the suburbs of Chicago. It felt like I was on my way home. However, I felt so close yet so far away from actually reaching my own home!
I have to admit, it was nice to drive by Chicago in the evening and at least see the skyline which gave me a little comfort of home.
Our game against Northwestern was an important game for us. We fought hard as a team, but in the end we came up short. We ended up losing 1-0, which was pretty upsetting for our team. After the game, we realized exactly how important the next few games were to the rest of our season.
On a positive note, we had a ton of fans at the Northwestern game, so it was nice to have so much support. I was especially excited. Not only were my parents there, but also my brother, aunt, cousin and my best friend all made it to the game. On Saturday, we headed to Wisconsin. First, we made a stop at Shannon Vnoucek's home. I have to say, it was quite the winding and hilly drive out to her country home, but I think we all managed to make it without anyone getting too car sick. We all had a great time at her house. Shannon gave us a tour of her home and her parents cooked some delicious food. I think we all went back for seconds and thirds!
After we ate, we gathered in different rooms to watch the IU football team take on Iowa. I would say our team has a lot of screamers. Every time there was a good play, or a bad call, you could probably hear the team from down the street! Needless to say, we thank Shannon and her Family for letting us visit their home for a few hours on Saturday. It was a good way for us to relax and not focus on soccer so much. Sunday, we were all business. I had a really good feeling going into this game, because I knew that our team wanted another win and I just felt like Sunday was going to be the day! I was proud of the way our team played during the game. We had a few scary moments in the late minutes of the game, but we all held together defensively and pulled out the win!
I have to also say, congratulations to Molly Kruger for scoring a header goal!! I was so happy to see her put that goal in. Even better, after she scored she said it did not even hurt!! Way to go Molly!
Well we have three regular season games left and, lucky for us, all three are at home, We really need a lot of support for the next three games so come on out and cheer us on.
Go Hoosiers!
