Head Coach Sharon Versyp
On the priorities between now and the exhibition games:
"The biggest thing is really getting in all of my defensive rules on man to man principles. There will be a lot of teaching. We have to be able to play some zone and have two different zone defenses and a couple of zone offenses. I don't want to throw too much at them. I want to be really good at a few things and keep it simple. Those are the things we will work on in the next couple of week. As we continue we'll get some full court stuff in."
On the attitude of the athletes so far:
"I think it's really good. I love my senior group. I know that doesn't always happen when you take over a program. They really want to have a phenomenal year. They are really excited about me and my staff. It has been really good thus far."
On Kimberly Roberson being a factor for the team this year:
"She will definitely be a factor for us. She is our best one-on-one player. She can rebound. She can play the point and the three. You are going to see a lot from Kim this year."
On if the team has the versatility to do the things you had in mind:
"I want to do is going to take a lot of time. I think we have some good pieces to the puzzle right now. We have to be able to execute our half court offense exceptionally well and have great shot selection because scoring has been a problem in the past. But for us to run and get up and down the court and press 90 percent of the time, that is going to take awhile."
Senior Forward Jenny DeMuth
On her recovery from ACL surgery:
"I have been cutting harder and moving better. I am getting more confident each and every day."
On being a senior and stepping up as a leader:
"As a senior you definitely should step up. But with a new coach, everyone is in the same position. Cyndi (Valentin) and I are the captains and we definetly need to step up. Coach V has told us time in and time out that we have no leadership, so we are both trying to really step up this year."
On adjusting to a new coach:
"I wouldn't say it's getting to know each other, it's getting to know the system. We need to get to know how she wants us to play and really learning the system."
On the teams potential:
"The sky is the limit for this team. Our goal is definitely to win a Big Ten championship and make it to the NCAA tournament. The way things are going now, we definitely have a shot."
Junior Guard Leah Enterline
On adjusting to a new coach:
"It took awhile for the team to adjust just because we had four new coaches and a whole new system. It has definitely been really good though. They are positive with us when we do something good and very honest. They tell us what we need to do and then we move on. Basically all we have to do is go out and play and that makes it really nice because you know what you are getting when you step on the floor. Coach Versyp is very intense, but that will only help out team get better and better."
On the team in general:
"We are putting in a lot more motion offense. Everything seems to be clicking. We have most of the team back. We have some really good freshmen. Kim Roberson can play the one, two and the three. Kelly McManmon is a real shooter. Having Jenny (DeMuth) back is key too. We have a strong team coming back. We just have to be able to work through and learn the new system. They different plays they have thrown at us are great. I think they are really going to work."
