BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - As the Indiana volleyball team prepares for this weekend's Big Ten matches against Purdue and Illinois, senior outside hitter Rachel Gerling and freshman defensive specialist Hana Ros sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com after practice.
Senior outside hitter Rachel Gerling
On playing against Purdue on Friday:
"It is going to be an exciting match. The Monon Spike match is always exciting. There is some pressure, but mostly just excitement because of the match. Everyone is a big one for us, but having that title is important."
On entering the third portion of the season:
"It is coming around the home stretch. The season can be won or lost in this part of the season. Even though we didn't have a very successful middle third of the season, it doesn't mean that the season is over for us. We have another chance to prove ourselves. That is all we ask for. We didn't compete as well as we could during the second third of the season. We definitely could have done a lot better. The mistakes that we made were definitely because of us. Now that we are straightening our side of the court out, hopefully that will translate into wins."
Freshman defensive specialist Hana Ros
On playing against Purdue on Friday:
"I am definitely excited, because it is a rival. We really want to come out strong and show that we have passion."
On entering the third portion of the season:
"There is always time to improve, so that we can end the season on a great note. There is still a third of the season left, so we need to make it the best part."
