BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After three tough days of play, the Indiana women's tennis team wrapped up action at the 2005 Hoosier Classic. Both senior Sarah Batty and junior Laura McGaffigan took home singles crowns in their respective flights. With the ITA All-American Championship on their minds, the two fell just short in the finals of the doubles bracket, but walked away well prepared.
Despite a last minute rally, Batty and McGaffigan lost to Brook Buck and Kelcy Tefft of Notre Dame, 9-7. Also winning for Indiana in today's doubles action was sophomore Brianna Williams and partner Dora Vastag. 8-2 for a 9th-place finish. Freshmen Alba Berdala and Sigrid Fischer were also winners over Kansas State's Jessica Simosa and Olga Kilmov, 8-3.
Batty, McGaffigan and Vastag all travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the prestigious ITA All-American Championship next week.
