BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Before heading to East Lansing, Mich., for a Big Ten battle with Michigan State, linebacker Kyle Killion, quarterback Blake Powers and wide receiver James Bailey sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com to discuss the Hoosiers' preparation for the Spartans.
Senior linebacker Kyle Killion:
"The preparation this week for Michigan State has been long because we have been working really hard. We've been mixing up some things and seeing how they look on film. Today, we had a great practice. It's been high energy out here. We are fired up and looking forward to Saturday. We are going to have to not only play hard but play smart. Everybody is going to have to do their job and make plays. This is going to be one of those games where four or five plays are going to really matter, and we want to make sure we are the ones making those. Michigan State is a hard-nosed team that is looking to take it to us, and we have to be ready to give it to them too."
Sophomore quarterback Blake Powers:
"This week we've worked really hard. We are using the mindset of forget it and drive on. That's what we have to do to be successful this weekend. Not everything is going to go our way, and you can do one of two things in those situations. You can keep your head up and look to next week or you can keep it down. This team has their heads up. We are focused on making the plays, getting things going as an offensive unit and clicking as an offense. Michigan State is a talented team. They are good, and they play hard every play. They have a great coach and are going to be well prepared. It's going to be a battle."
Freshman wide receiver James Bailey:
"Preparation has been going really well this week. We are focused and very determined. This week we have been focused on playing better and coming together as an offense. Michigan State is like most Big Ten teams-they are a big, physical team that's not afraid of anybody. We need to have our best game because they aren't going to give us any slack. We need to execute everything. Our blocking, passing and running games all have to be on. We have to work hard, go full speed and play our game."
