BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - As the Indiana volleyball team prepares for this weekend's Big Ten matches against Iowa and Minnesota, freshman setter Laura Holm and sophomore middle blocker Annie Moddrell sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com after practice.
Freshman setter Laura Holm
On what the team has been working on this week in practice:
"We have really been working on being efficient on offense. We have been working some things out. We have been working on serving under pressure. We also want to be competitive on every play and every drill. We always have something to play for."
On how she expects the younger players, including herself, to react going into the second half of the Big Ten season and into some hostile environments:
"I think we are going to be fine. We are used to it by now. It brings energy. I think it is good for us. We have to work to communicate."
Sophomore middle blocker Annie Moddrell
On how she expects the freshmen to react going into a tough place to play like Minnesota:
"I think they might be a little nervous. It might throw them off a bit at first. I think we had a great experience with the IU football team coming the other night. That is the biggest crowd they have ever experienced, as well as some of the older players. That is the biggest turnout we have had since I have been here. That was a great preview. What Katie (Weismiller) is doing in practice with the piped in loud noise is helping us to tune it out and focus on the game."
On what the team has been working on in practice this week:
"We have been working on some of our shot selection, based on what the defense is giving us. We also have been working on communication and talking because of the loud gyms. We don't want those silly mistakes because of communication."
