Exner Earns Second Big Ten Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore goalkeeper Haley Exner earned her second Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor as announced by the Big Ten on Monday.
Exner recorded a combined nine saves last weekend against No. 13 Michigan and Kent State. Against the Wolverines, Exner notched five saves and held UM scoreless until the last minute of the game. Two days later against Kent State, Exner recorded four more saves in the 5-2 win over the Golden Flashes. The 5-11 goalkeeper ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.814) and goals against average (1.21) after the sixth week of action.
Exner is the first Hoosier this season to add two Player of the Week honors to her resume. The San Diego, Calif., native won her first award on Sept. 12 for her seven-save performance against Pacific on Sept. 9. For this season, this is Indiana's third Big Ten accolade.
"Haley has been doing a tremendous job for us this season," head coach Amy Robertson said. "She has been playing like she's been a starter for several years. She has stepped in right where Katie Kanara left off."
