No. 7 Hoosiers Continue to Climb in the Rankings

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team continues to climb in the national rankings after a pair of wins over then-No. 13 Michigan and Kent State. The Hoosiers moved from the eighth slot in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) rankings to No. 7. This week's ranking preplaces last week's No. 8 ranking as the highest in program history. Indiana is one of four Big Ten schools to earn a top-ten ranking this week.
After being seconds away from holding then-No. 13 Michigan scoreless, the Hoosiers notched their ninth win of the season before traveling to Kent, Ohio, to face the Golden Flashes. Indiana outscored Kent State 5-2 with senior Mallory Reabold netting two goals in the IU win. The Hoosier victory over the Wolverines marks the first time in program history that IU has defeated Michigan and the first time the Hoosiers have recorded back-to-back Big Ten wins in a season.
Indiana looks to continue their seven-game winning streak at home this weekend with another Big Ten affair against Northwestern at 2 p.m. On Tuesday, Oct. 11, IU takes the field at home again in their first mid-week matchup of the season against No. 13 Louisville at 4 p.m. All home matches are played in Mellencamp Pavilion.
