In addition to our two Big Ten games against Michigan and Michigan State this weekend, it was also parent's weekend. Unfortunately, my parents, Mark and Cheryl, were unable to make it to Bloomington, but I guarantee the parents that were here had a blast.
On Friday, we played No. 22 Michigan and won, 2-1. It was a hard fought game, but in the end, we came out with a win. It was a huge win for our program because we had not beaten the Wolverines since 1994. Following the game, we all stuck around to watch the Men's team play Penn State. Unfortunately, a Penn State goal in overtime gave IU their first lost of the season.
On Saturday morning, we met in downtown Bloomington to participate in the Breast Cancer walk. It was an incredible sight to see over 1,000 people supporting such a worthy cause. Pink and purple balloons filled the air as breast cancer survivors, along with those currently fighting breast cancer, crossed the finish line. Following the walk, we went to the Metz Lounge to watch film from the previous night's game.
After our team met and discussed our performance on Friday, the parents took off for a round of golf at the IU golf course. I heard it was quite a sight to see some of the parents swing for the green. While the actual golf playing was entertaining, I think the parents enjoyed the "award ceremony" following the round of golf.
On Sunday, we had another double header with the men's team. We unfortunately continued the bad luck of the boys and lost to the Spartans of Michigan State. The men's soccer team stole our good fortune from Friday and beat IUPUI. Following the game, we had a banquet with our parents. I had an accounting test Sunday evening, so I was not able to participate in the post-game festivities. But, I think my test went well, so that is good!
We are looking ahead to our game on Friday against the always-tough Ohio State Buckeyes.
