Opening Statement:
TH: "Kudos to coach Ron Zook and his staff. Coming in we knew they were going to play for 60 (minutes). This was a challenging week getting ready for the game. Their no-huddle offense, their multitude of blitzes they threw at us on defense were difficult. Our coaching staff did a great job getting ready, our players did a great job. When you get blitzed like we did on offense you are going to have some boom and bust plays. They made some big plays on us. Overall I thought our coaching staff did a great job and made some adjustments. We made plays when we had to make plays. Blake Powers backed up the performance he had in the Kentucky game. I thought he had a shot at breaking the record (single-season passing record) today. I predicted that earlier this week. I think he has a shot at throwing a lot of touchdowns every week with the way we play."
On today's special pre-game guest:
TH: "Trent Green was in the locker room today talking to the team before the game. We gave a `1-2-3 Go Chiefs' right before the game. We really appreciated having Trent here on his off week. That locker room is a big-time locker room and it is all thanks to Trent Green."
On Blake Powers today compared to how he played against Illinois last year:
TH: "I knew Blake was going to come out and make plays. He did a great job leading our team and it gives us all confidence. I listened to the IU/Illinois game last year and know what happened. I am really proud of Blake. He came out and led us to a win. It was another great performance by Blake Powers."
On the ease of James Hardy's second touchdown catch and his development:
TH: "There's no such thing as an easy touchdown, Hardy and Powers just made a great play. He (Hardy) is a work in progress right now and continues to surprise us. Not only is he a big guy with big catches and plays, but he had a heads up play and took a time out for Blake when the play clock was running down."
