Three Hoosiers Seeded in Big Ten Indoor Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Three Indiana men's tennis players are seeded and four others Hoosiers will compete at the Big Ten Indoor Singles Championships. The tournament is slated to begin on Friday, Nov. 11 and run through Monday, Nov. 14 at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Center in East Lansing, Mich. Junior David Bubenicek is the highest-seeded Hoosier at No. 12. Senior Dmytro Ishtuganov and sophomore Dara McLoughlin round out the seeded Hoosiers at 13th and 15th, respectively.
Bubenicek will await one of eight qualifiers in the opening round of the championships. Ishtuganov will meet Ohio State's Ty Schaub, while McLoughlin will face Chaitu Malempati of Iowa.
Sophomore Michael McCarthy will face a familiar face in Wisconsin's Lachezar Kasarov. The pair met in the qualifying bracket of the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Oct. 21. McCarthy beat Kasarov in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, to earn one of eight spots in the main draw of the regional tournament.
Freshman Peter Antons and senior Neil Kenner also will compete in the 64-player main draw at the championships. Antons will play Jarred Leibner of Purdue, while Kenner will battle Steve Peretz of Michigan.
Freshman Mario Gonzalez will be the lone Hoosier competing in the qualifying bracket at the championships. He will be one of 21 players battling for eight qualifying spots in the main draw.
