Four Hoosiers Earn All-Region Accolades

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The honors keep rolling in for the Indiana field hockey team. Senior Kayla Bashore and juniors Morgan Miller and Lydia Schrott earned first team National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region accolades, while sophomore goalkeeper Haley Exner picked up second team laurels following the Hoosiers most successful season in program history.
The first Hoosier to be named to the U.S. National team and earn Big Ten Player of the Year honors, Bashore wrapped up her career at Indiana netting 23 goals, 11 of them coming this season. The Shoemakersville, Pa., native, tallied 29 points this season and took a team-high 76 shots. Bashore is the current Indiana field hockey career leader in shots with 178.
Miller, who recorded five goals, three assists and one defensive save in 2005, picked up her first All-Region first team honor. The Gap, Pa., product also was named first team All-Big Ten and led the Hoosier defense to five shutout victories.
Schrott, whose hat trick against UNC in the first round of the NCAA Tournament propelled the Hoosiers into the Elite Eight for the first time in program history, picked up her second first team All-Region laurel. The Quarryville, Pa., native led the IU offense this season with 41 total points from 17 goals and three assists. Schrott sits atop three career records in Hoosier annals (goals, assists and points).
Exner, who earned first team All-Big Ten honors earlier this month, secured her first All-Region recognition. The second team All-Region selection recorded an impressive 138 saves and 17 wins this year, making her the winningest goalkeeper in program history. Exner rounded out her first campaign as a starter with a goals against average of 2.14 in her 22 starts.
