BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Sergiy Fesenko continues to add to his pile of weekly awards as he earned CollegeSwimming.com's National Swimmer of the Week award for the week ending Oct. 30.
"Sergiy had an outstanding meet against Minnesota by winning three tough events," head coach Ray Looze said. "He won with three great times. It is nice to see him recognized for his performance. Sergiy has started the season off at a very high level and is continuing the fast swimming he recorded this summer."
Fesenko collected his third consecutive distance crown of the season with the sixth-fastest time in school history in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The Kiev, Ukraine native turned in a scintillating 9:09.14. Fesenko continued his recent run of success by blowing past Minnesota's Adam Mitchell (1:50.14) for an event-winning 1:49.99 performance in the 200-yard butterfly. Fesenko remained undefeated in distance events this season with his third title of the meet. He turned in a dazzling 4:28.00 to take first in the 500-yard freestyle.
