Gall, Hattendorf Run Strong At Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana's two most consistent runners this season had a chance to close out the season with some excitement, and were able to do just that. Junior All-American Jessica Gall ran another strong race finishing 32nd (20:29), and junior Lindsay Hattendorf continued her break-out season with a 61st (20:48) place finish.
Gall earned another All-America distinction, the second of her career and the ninth ever for women's cross country. She became just the sixth runner in IU history to earn All-America honors, and just the second person to earn the honor more than once. Michelle Dekkers won the honor three different times, 1988-1990, winning the individual championship in 1988.
"It was a very good day," head coach Judy Wilson said. "It was a really good way for Jessica and Lindsay to finish out their seasons. Any time you can bring home an All-America honor it is a big deal. Lindsay went out a little too hard early on, but she improved a great deal from last year. There are a lot of good runners and she is in good company."
Stanford (146) won the team title in a close race over second-place Colorado (181) and third place Duke (185). Junior Johanna Nilsson of Northern Arizona took the individual championship in a time of 19:33.9.
