IU Volleyball Signs Regas

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head coach Katie Weismiller and the Indiana University volleyball program announced the signing of setter Allison Regas (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) for the 2006-07 academic year.
"We are very excited with the addition of Allison to our program," Weismiller said. "Not only is she a great setter, she is also well-rounded. She comes to the program with a lot of experience. She has good size and great court sense. Not only will she provide us with a great skill set, but her volleyball intelligence is great as well."
Regas, a 6-1 setter from Jacksonville, Fla., earned All-America recognition in 2004. Additionally, she led Bolles to a pair of regional championships and three semifinal finishes during her five seasons with the varsity team. Remarkably, Regas began playing varsity for Bolles as an eighth-grader. During Bolles' run of five consecutive final four appearances at state, Regas garnered Dairy Farmers and Florida Athletic Coaches Association Player of the Year honors in 2004. She also earned first team all-state and all-city as well as FACA all-star team accolades in 2004. Additionally, she claimed a spot on Prep Volleyball's Top 50 list.
"I chose Indiana because it is competitive in both athletics and academics," Regas said. "I also loved the coaches, players and atmosphere of the school."
As a member of the Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association, Regas traveled to national qualifier tournaments in Indianapolis, Austin, Texas, Atlanta, and Tampa, Fla. She also made trips to Austin and Colorado Springs, Colo., for high performance camps. Meanwhile, Regas earned a berth on the Youth National A2 squad.
Away from the court, Regas snared first and second academic honors throughout her prep career. She also participated in Dreams Come True, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to granting the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
