My name is Kristen Zmijewski and I am a senior on the Indiana women's soccer team. I have been charged with this year's senior diary. I hope to give the fans and future recruits a glimpse into my senior year, and just the overall life of a Hoosier soccer player. Throughout the season you will be reading a few journal entries, some thoughts and little updates about how the season is going so far.

I guess when the IU women's soccer team gets into a life or death situation, we prevail. That is exactly what happened when we played against Purdue. Going into the game, we knew we had to either tie or beat Purdue to earn a spot in the Big 10 Tournament. At the end of a long and tiring 110 minutes of soccer, the score was tied 1-1. Of course it would have been awesome to beat Purdue and take the Golden Boot, but I was extremely happy and proud of the way we fought for the entire 110 minutes.
Also, I need to give a special thanks to everyone who came out to support us. We had so many fans it was amazing to be playing out on the field. We had so much support that it would have been hard to not go out and play our best for the entire game. Thanks to everyone who came out and sat through the entire game as well as the chilly weather. You guys were great and we appreciate the support so much!
On top of it being a game that determined our fate, it was also Senior Night. Wow, I cannot believe that I have played college soccer for four years and my time playing and practicing is coming to an end!
It literally seems like it was yesterday that I was arriving on campus for my first year of preseason. Of course, I am going to miss playing more than anyone could ever imagine, but on a different note, I am pretty sure my body is about ready to be done! I just know that the three other seniors, Lauren Fabbro, Robin Barker and Courtney O'Bryan want to make this season last as long as we possibly can and I can not imagine a better way of ending my soccer career.
Right now, we are hard at work to do the best we can in the Big 10 tournament. This weekend was kind of crazy. We knew we would be leaving on Wednesday for Ann Arbor, Mich., and everyone was emailing their teachers as well as trying to get ahead on schoolwork so that we may focus on the task at hand. I am really excited to play this week and I know that rest of the team is as well! Do not forget to check out the scores from the week on all the websites and follow us as we take on Michigan State on Thursday.
