Opening Statement:
MD: "They made the plays they needed to make to win the game. We talked about not being excited for the game from a standpoint that would normally be in these types of basketball games. We work to hard to be hyped up for these games, but we came out and we were tight as tight can be. I thought we settled down and so did Marco (Killingsworth). Marco settled in and had a good read on his defender. We wanted to play at a pace they couldn't play, but they had a good game plan. They took away our three point shot and forced us to go inside. Unfortunately, we came up short. I told our guys that I'm proud of the effort from the five-minute mark on, but we can be a better basketball team. To lose this season doesn't make or break our season if we grow and develop from it."
On how the team did without D.J. White:
MD: "We feel that we are a very good basketball team without D.J. White. We know that when D.J. comes back we will be an outstanding basketball team. We had our chances without D.J. We missed some lay-ups and free throws and their guys got some offensive rebounds that we didn't chase down in the corners. We turned over the ball sixteen times and fourteen of those were unforced turnovers from just being to causal with the basketball. We're not going to make excuses because D.J. wasn't here. We know what type of basketball team we will be when D.J. returns because when Marco gets too tired then D.J. can take over. The way their young players performed shows what type of basketball team they are. Coach K is one of the best coaches not just in college basketball but in all of basketball."
On Marco Killingsworth at the end of the second half:
MD: "He ran out of gas. I saw it at the five-minute mark. He would normally make those plays. He missed a lay-up and got a shot blocked that he would normally not get blocked, but they played him the same way the entire game."
