Indiana Head Coach Mike Davis Quotes
Indiana vs. Kentucky
December 10, 2005
Opening Statement:
MD: "What a great victory for our fans. You saw the basketball team I was talking about today. They played with passion, energy, and they played hard. We stayed with it for 40 minutes. Kentucky is a good basketball team. We knew it was going to be a big game. It's a rivalry game, and we knew we were going to have to play hard to win this game. Kentucky has only lost two basketball games against two really good teams. We have two losses as well, one to a mid-major team and one to a very good team. We had to stay focused, and we did. I started A.J. Ratliff today to get his confidence going. Coach Marsh talked to the team about not necessarily making shots, but playing the game of basketball, hustling on defense and playing team basketball. I thought Marco (Killingsworth) played his best game for us. Overall, it was a great effort against a great basketball team."
On the win:
MD: "It's a great win for our fans. It's good for our team's confidence. We are going to face some good basketball teams during this season, and what we have to remember is we have to play hard every night."
On the defensive effort:
MD: "I thought Coach Marsh did a great job. We played well and that was due to our defense. Even late in the game, our defense looked tough. We played a balanced style of defense, and we shut down a really great basketball team."
