Indiana Player Quotes
December 10, 2005
Junior Guard Roderick Wilmont
On tonight's win:
RW: "If we play the way we played today, we can beat anybody. We just have to keep playing as a team, share the ball, go to our big guy Marco (Killingsworth), play inside out and then anything can happen."
On A.J. Ratliff:
RW: "A.J. (Ratliff) stepped up big for us. He hit some big threes in the corner that we needed. Every night there is going to be somebody different that steps up, and you never know who it's going to be on this team. One night it'll be Marco (Killingsworth), the next night it'll be A.J., and next game it might be (Errek) Suhr. You never know, so we just have to keep playing as a team."
Sophomore Forward/Guard Robert Vaden
On tonight's win versus the loss to Indiana State:
RV: "We were pretty disappointed about our loss to Indiana State, so we wanted to get that off our back, come out here and get a good win. We didn't play like a team against Indiana State, and I think that was one of our biggest problems. However, we came out here and played some good defense which really helped us."
On the second half defense (especially the first 5 minutes):
RV: "We didn't score very much on offense, but if you aren't scoring, then your defense has to be that much better. It was better in the second half and that helped us a lot."
On coming home to Indianapolis:
RV: "It's a lot of fun (coming home). A.J. and I were really hyped for this game. We are both from Indianapolis, we had a lot of family (at the game), and we wanted to go out there and play our hardest."
Senior Guard Marshall Strickland
On what the win means:
MS: "It means a lot. There's a lot of tradition in this game, and (Kentucky) has been dominating us lately. I think this year we're a better team and tonight we stepped up and performed like it."
Sophomore Guard A.J. Ratliff
On his career-high point total:
AR: "It was just coming to me. I knocked down a couple of open shots and some free throws, and I just let the game come to me because I was having fun."
On starting in tonight's game for the first time this season:
AR: "It really boosted my confidence. When (Coach Davis) told me I was going to start in practice, my confidence just flew sky-high. It helped me relax and get back into the rhythm of the game."
Indiana Senior Forward Marco Killingsworth
On beating Kentucky:
MK:< "it="" feels="" real="" good.="" this="" will="" be="" my="" last="" time="" ever="" playing="" them,="" unless="" we="" see="" them="" in="" march."="">
On Coach Davis:
MK: "Coach (Davis) and I battled this week. He got on me pretty hard about Indiana State, so I tried to bounce back, and it happened."
