Sophomore D.J. White
On what he has been able to do so far:
DW: "I am just running up and down the court with no contact just trying to get in shape. That's all I have done so far. I am hoping to get back in action later this week, maybe Friday or Saturday. My last x-ray looked good. I haven't really felt any pain in a while."
On getting back on the court after taking time to recover from his injury:
DW: "It is exciting to get back out here with the team. There is only so much you can do watching from the sidelines. I am hoping for Monday (at Charlotte) to get some live action in a real game. We don't know that for sure yet, but that is what I am hoping for."
Freshman Ben Allen
On building confidence over the course of the season:
BA: "Ever since that breakout game against Eastern Michigan, and the games against Indiana State and Kentucky I really felt comfortable. Before the Eastern Michigan game I was feeling down and didn't have a lot of confidence. I didn't really get a lot of playing time in the Kentucky game but I felt really comfortable out there while Marco (Killingsworth) and A.J. (Ratliff) did their thing."
On the team getting three days off practice following the Kentucky game:
BA: "It gives everyone a chance to get their minds back into things after a short break. Getting those three days off of practice was a good chance to recharge. We started off a bit slow today in practice but that is to be expected after a short break like that. We are ready to get going against Charlotte now."
Head Coach Mike Davis
On the progress of D.J White
MD: "He's jumping like he was, and everything else is good except for his conditioning. We are hoping he can get a few minutes in against Charlotte. We are going to bring him on slowly and might just hold on until the Butler game to get him going. We don't want him to come in thinking he needs to score 25 points and grab 15 rebounds. If he does that we'll take it, but we want to bring him on slow."
On D.J.'s effect on the lineup once he fully returns:
MD: "Eventually we will probably put him into the starting spot that Sean Kline had before he went down with an injury and move Robert Vaden to a wing spot and out of the post. We are going to wait to until D.J. is completely ready to go before we do that though."
On James Hardy returning to the basketball team after football season
MD: "He practiced a little bit today but he got tired toward the end. It is just going to take him a while to get into basketball shape and adjust from football season to basketball season. He has been out for a while recovering from a couple of injuries leftover from football."
