Ten Questions with Jorge Campillo

Indiana freshman men's golfer Jorge Campillo headlined a Hoosier freshman class that earned the No. 3 ranking in Golfstat's final Freshman Class Impact Ranking of the fall season. Campillo carded a team-leading 72.87 mark and appeared in all five of the club's tournaments. The Caceres, Spain, native recorded four top-25 finishes and produced the team's best finish in four of the five events. Campillo's tie for 14th at the Gopher Invitational (Sept. 17-18) was his best finish during the fall.
Campillo recently sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com and answered 10 questions dealing with issues on and off the golf course.
Why did you choose Indiana?
I chose Indiana because I liked the university and the campus, and coach Mayer is a great person.
What is the top course you have played?
I have played a lot of good courses, but I think that the top course I have ever played is Valderrama (Spain).
If you had to choose one course, where would you want to play?
Augusta
What is your most memorable achievement on the course?
When I won the Spanish Championship.
Who is the one person in history you would most like to meet?
Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus)
If you could change one thing about your game, what would you change?
Long irons
Who is your favorite golfer?
Luke Donald, but Seve Ballesteros is my all-time favorite.
What is the best thing about Bloomington?
The friendly people
What are your favorite professional golf tournaments?
The Masters and the British Open
