BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Over the 2005-06 campaign, IUHOOSIERS.com will catch up with former Indiana swimmers and divers to see where life has taken them after graduating from IU. Robert Iglinski, who swam for IU from 1994-98, took the time to fill in IUHOOSIERS.com on his life since graduation.
What have you been doing since graduating from Indiana University?
Upon graduating in 1998, I moved to Los Angeles to join Toyota Motor Sales. After a year out west, the company transferred me to Chicago to join our Lexus Division. My current position is a District Sales Manager for Lexus and I have lived and worked in Chicago ever since.
What did you enjoy the most about your time as a Hoosier?
Oh, so many things. I guess my favorite memories typically involved us sitting around the card table just among the guys. That's where the best stories were told and where we all got to know each other better when we were away from the pool.
What piece of advice would you give to any current Hoosier?
Relax. Too many people in college are so focused on the next step that they forget to truly appreciate the freedom that you have in college. Your education will be your most valuable outcome upon completing your four (or five-or-more) years, but it is only one piece of your development. By taking time to just enjoy the moment, you'll get to appreciate it more then and later on in life!
Would you say that being a student-athlete at Indiana University has helped you get to where you are today?
There is no question. First of all, I learned more about myself during that time than possibly any four-year period in my life! I attribute so much of my personality today, to being an IU athlete. Also, you'll be surprised at just how many people know about IU athletics, especially Indiana Swimming, and it will be a topic that comes up for the rest of your life.
Anything additional you would like to add?
Current swimmers. Keep up the great success! Many of us old alumni have been following your progress and rise back to the top in the Big Ten. We are all excited for you guys and I know you will see our support in the stands in February when you reclaim the Big Ten Title in Bloomington. Best of luck!
