Along with head coach Tracy Smith and assistant coaches Ty Neal and Micah Nori, the Indiana baseball team also welcomes 12 new players to the 2006 roster. In the coming weeks, IUHOOSIERS.com will feature each IU newcomer. The first Hoosier in the spotlight is outfielder Cameron Satterwhite.
Satterwhite, a 6-0 outfielder from Moeller High School in Cincinnati, finished his career as a .360 hitter with 13 home runs and a Moeller record 88 RBI. He was a first team all-state selection as a senior and earned all-city and All-GCL honors in 2004 and 2005. The 2004 GCL Player of the Year was awarded Moeller's Most Valuable Player and secured the team's Best Offensive Player laurels his junior and senior seasons.
A three-year varsity letterwinner, Satterwhite played for Mike Cameron and was the team captain in 2005. The Cleveland Indians selected Satterwhite in the 50th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. The son of Carl and Dawn Satterwhite has one brother, Brice, and plans to study business at IU.
