FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Day One of the Tyson Invitational only saw one Hoosier team compete, but it was well worth it as the No. 2 ranked men's distance medley relay team finished in second place with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:33.11 seconds.
The team, composed of senior Rodney Hollis and juniors Sean Jefferson, John Jefferson and Andre Grimes, placed second to No.3 Arkansas, who tallied a first-place time of 9:29.17. The NCAA automatic standard was 9:35.25.
"It gives us another team in the national hunt," said Director of Track and Field Randy Heisler. "If these athletes also qualify in other races, it will give us a few options in the nationals and how we use the runners."
Last year at the Tyson Invitational, the quartet broke the school record with a time of 9:31.26.
