Outgoing Senior Spotlight: Alex Burns

In the coming weeks, we will spotlight each IU outgoing-senior individually. The second Hoosier in the series is Burns.
Senior Year (2004-05)
Cleared the NCAA zone qualifying mark on four occasions ... posted a 315.15 on the platform against Northwestern and notched a 487.60 in the IU Invite on the one-meter ... registered personal best tallies in four events.
Redshirt Year (2003-04)
Redshirted ... qualified for the 2004 U.S. National Championships on the three-meter and finished 28th.
Junior Year (2002-03)
Scored on all three levels at the Big Ten Championships ... advanced to the finals of the three-meter competition and placed eighth overall ... finished 14th on the platform and 16th on the one-meter at the Big Ten Championships ... at the NCAA Diving Regionals, placed ninth with a score of 539.25 ... earned Big Ten Diver of the Week with his first-place performance on the one-meter against Michigan State ... set a career-best against the Spartans on the one-meter with a score of 321.23 ... at the Indiana Invitational, placed sixth on the three-meter, eighth on the one-meter and seventh on the platform ... also took fifth on the one-meter at the Miami Invitational ... teamed with U.S. Diving Elite's Burkley Showe to take fifth on the synchro three-meter at the Speedo American Cup Meet ... placed 15th in the 10-meter platform competition at the American Cup Meet.
Sophomore Year (2001-02)
After finishing 20th on three-meter at Big Tens as a freshman, Burns made tremendous improvements and finished 10th in the same event at the 2002 Big Ten Championships with a score of 442.05.
Freshman Year (2000-01)
One of only two divers to compete in every meet of the season, Burns placed 20th on 3-Meter at the 2001 Big Ten Championships.
Prep/Personal
The Edgewood High School record holder on one-meter, Burns finished his high school career as a three-time sectional champion ... placed sixth in the Indiana state finals as a senior ... a General Studies major with a concentration in math and science, Burns was born March 17, 1982.
