Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana senior guard Donald Perry has left the Hoosier basketball program, IU coach Mike Davis announced today."Donald decided after the (Feb. 12) Minnesota game that he no longer wanted to be a part of the team, and he notified the coaching staff late Monday night of his decision," Davis said. "We're disappointed that Donald is leaving, but we wish him the best."
On Oct. 15, 2004, Perry was suspended from the program for violation of team rules. He was reinstated on Dec. 6, and he saw action in three games this season. He recorded a season-high two assists in 18 minutes of action at No. 1/1 Illinois on Feb. 2.
As a junior, the 6-2, 185-pound Perry started 13 of the 28 games in which he played. He posted a career-high 13 points against Missouri on Dec. 5, 2003 and a career-best six assists against Northwestern on Jan. 17, 2004.
The Tallulah, La., native played a key role in the Hoosiers' 2002 Big Ten championship and Final Four campaign. He tallied 10 points, including five of six free throws in the national semifinal victory over Oklahoma.
Coach Davis considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.
