Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana (11-11, 6-5 Big Ten) travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend to visit the Michigan Wolverines (12-14, 3-8). The game will tip off Sunday at 3:38 p.m. and will be televised nationally by CBS.
Indiana heads to Ann Arbor looking for its third straight victory in Crisler Arena. The Hoosiers have won four of their last five games played in Ann Arbor, and a win on Sunday would mark the first time since 1959-61 that the Hoosiers have won three straight at U-of-M. The last time Indiana posted three straight road victories over the same league school was Northwestern (1999-2002).
Indiana has won seven straight in its Michigan series and 10 of the last 11. This is the Hoosiers' best active winning streak over a Big Ten program. Should IU prevail against Michigan, it would mark the Hoosiers' longest series winning streak over a league school since they defeated Northwestern 26 straight times from Feb. 11, 1988 through Jan. 15, 2003.
Indiana enters the Feb. 20 Michigan game looking to maintain a streak of holding opponents to .400 or less shooting from the floor in four straight halves. When the Hoosiers and Wolverines met on Jan. 22, 2005 in Bloomington, IU held Michigan to .250 (7-of-28) from the floor in the second half en route to a 62-53 victory. This is the Hoosiers' second-best one-half field goal percentage defense performance of the season. IU held Missouri to .231 (6-of-26) from the floor in the first half on Dec. 19, 2004.
Through games of Feb. 15, Indiana leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage defense at .404. If this plays out, it would mark the second time of the head coach Mike Davis Era that the Hoosiers have led the league in this category. In 2001, IU set a single-season Big Ten record with a field goal percentage defense of .382.
