A preview of this summer's Walker Cup, the Jones Cup brings together many of the top amateurs in the U.S. and abroad. The Jones Cup Committee sent out invitations to 83 golfers to fill out this year's field.
Overton, who recently was named to the watch list for the 2005 Ben Hogan Award, rebounded from an opening-round 78 to claim a top-10 finish. He fired an even-par 72 in round two and followed that up with a 3-under-par 69, one of six golfers in the field under par on the final 18.
"It was a difficult opening round for Jeff, but to comeback and play the way he did speaks volumes. This was a world-class field," said Indiana head coach Mike Mayer. "Jeff did a great job to finish seventh against some of the best golfers in the world."
Up next, Overton and the Hoosiers open the spring portion of their schedule in Puerto Rico at the Hyatt Plantation Club Intercollegiate. The event will take place Sunday-Tuesday, March 6-8.
