Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana head coach Mike Davis, junior guards Marshall Strickland and Bracey Wright, as well as freshmen forward D.J. White addressed the media following Friday's practice. The Hoosiers continued their preparations for Sunday's home game against Michigan State at 12:00 p.m.Junior Guard Marshall Strickland
On what the team wants to do defensively against Michigan State:
MS: "We want to slow them down. We want to make them play a half-court game and if we are able to do that then D.J. [White] and our inside guys can match up."
On the match-up between Paul Davis of Michigan State and D.J. White:
MS: "I think that it is going to be a good match up. D.J. is going to make him play defense, which will slow him down on offense. Last year [Paul] Davis didn't have as big of a challenge, but guarding D.J. is going to be a tough job for him and I think that it will affect his offense."
Junior Guard Bracey Wright:
On the team being tied for third place in the Big Ten Standings:
BW: "We have discussed it but we know that we have three games left and things can change. A team could get upset or a surprise team could make a run, but we need to take care of our games and leave the rest up to the other teams."
Freshman Forward D.J. White
On going up against Paul Davis:
DW: "He is a great player and we're going to try to prevent him from getting any angles at the basket. We know that we need to stay in front of him and play tough defense because that is all that we can really do."
On how the Hoosiers look to stop Michigan State's inside-outside offense:
DW: "We are going to need to stick to our defensive principles. We have one of the best defenses in the conference and we simply need to play our defense and play smart."
Head Coach Mike Davis:
On the team's defense and how it looks to limit Michigan State's fast break points:
MD: "Coach Marsh deserves a lot of credit for the defense. We've focused [on our defense] a lot in practice and come Sunday we are going to try and get back on defense as fast as we can. [Michigan State] is a great team in transition and we need to make sure that they don't score a lot of their points that way."
