BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 70 Indiana men's tennis team will travel down south to play a pair of ranked opponents on Feb. 12 and 13. The Hoosiers will face No. 9 Virginia on Saturday, at 2 p.m., in the Boar's Head Sports Club, and No. 57 N.C. State on Sunday, at 11 a.m., in the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
IU News and Notes:
***Indiana will look to rebound after dropping a close 4-3 decision to then-No. 57 Middle Tennessee State on Feb. 5. The Hoosiers claimed the doubles point, but the Blue Raiders battled back and claimed four of the six singles contests to earn the victory.
***Senior Jakub Praibis improved to 8-4 on the year and 4-0 at the No. 1 singles spot this spring. Praibis defeated his second ranked opponent this spring, besting Andreas Siljestrom, ranked 68th in singles, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 5-7, on Feb. 5. Praibis and his doubles partner, junior Dmytro Ishtuganov, are now 6-1 on the year and 4-0 this spring after a victory at the No. 2 position last Saturday.
***Freshman Michael McCarthy continues to play well in his initial campaign. He pushed his overall record to 12-4 and his spring mark to 3-1 with a win against MTSU. He, along with Dara McLoughlin, won at the No. 3 doubles spot, and the duo is now 2-0 this spring.
