BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior guard Bracey Wright was named an honorable mention All-American announced by Rivals.com on Tuesday. It marks the first such award for Wright during his three-year Indiana career, and he is the first Hoosier to earn the accolade since Jared Jeffries in 2002.Earlier in the month, Wright was named to the first team All-Big Ten as selected by the media and was voted to the second team by the coaches. Wright was named to the Big Ten's top team for the first time in his three-year career, and is the first Hoosier to earn the honor since Jeffries did so in 2002. His second-team award from the coaches is his second in as many years.
The Colony, Texas, native leads the Big Ten with 18.4 points per game and leads IU with 4.8 rebounds. He also ranks second on the squad with 69 assists and 28 steals, despite missing three games due to an ankle injury. He became the first Hoosier to win the league's scoring title since A.J. Guyton captured in 2000 (19.7 ppg).
Currently, Wright has accumulated 1,481 points during his career, which places him 15th among Indiana's all-time leading scorers. This season, he has tallied 459 points and is on pace to become just the fifth player in school history to score at least 490 points per season in each of his first three years. His 182 career three pointers rank fourth in school history, while his six Big Ten Player of the Week honors are the most of any Big Ten active player and rank among the top seven in league history. Wright was also named to the NABC First Team All-District earlier this season.
This season alone, Wright has 10 games where he has scored 20 or more points, seven of which he accounted for 25 or more. He has three games this season where he poured in 30 or more points, most recently accounting for a season-high 32 points, including going 9-of-9 from the charity stripe, in 42 minutes of action in the win over No. 9/10 Michigan State on Feb. 27.
Throughout his stellar career, he has accumulated 32 games scoring 20 or more points and 16 times accounting for 25 or more.
