Seven Head to Last Chance Meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana men's track and field team will send seven athletes to the Alex Wilson "Last Chance" Invitational, held at the Meyo Track on the campus of the University of Notre Dame on Saturday, March 5.
The meet is the last opportunity for an athlete to achieve an automatic or provisional qualifying mark to the NCAA Championship, which will be held at the University of Arkansas on March 11-12.
Below is a list of the Hoosiers attending the meet.
Wil Fleming
Sr./Weight Throw
Fleming has already provisionally qualified for the NCAAs with a toss of 20.12m (66-00.25), easily passing the provisional mark of 19.00m (62-04.00). He will now look to earn an automatic bid with a throw of more than 21.20m (69-06.60).
Rodney Hollis
Sr./800-Meter Dash
Hollis ran a 1:49.84 in the 800-meters at the Tyson Invitational, just missing the provisional mark of 1:49.50. He will now look to gain an automatic time (1:48.00), but to do that Hollis will have to set a personal-best as his present PR is a 1:49.59, set at last year's Big Ten Championships.
Stephanos Ioannou
So./60-Meter Hurdles
Ioannou's career-best time of 7.87 at the Tyson Invitational passed the NCAA provisional mark of 7.91. He will now look to better that time and get closer to the automatic tally of 7.70.
Kyle Jenkins
Fr./Triple Jump
Jenkins has yet to record a provisional (15.50m) or automatic (16.20m) jump. His career-best was a 15.20m (49-10.50) effort at the Big Ten Championships.
Ryan Ketchum
Jr./Shot Put
Ketchum has already passed the provisional mark (17.75m) in the shot put this year with a heave of 18.35m (60-02.50). He will now look to increase his chances at reaching the NCAAs as well as test the automatic standard in the event (19.30m, 58-02.80).
Eric Redman
Sr./Mile
The Hoosiers will try and load up on milers in the NCAAs if they can get Redman in, with John and Sean Jefferson already in. Redman's personal-best time is a 4:07.90 at last year's Indiana Invitational. To get in the NCAAs, he will have to run at least a 4:05.40 for a provisional mark and a 3:59.80 for an automatic bid.
Aarik Wilson
Jr./Long Jump
Wilson has already automatically qualified for the nationals in the triple jump, and has earned a provisional mark in the long jump, posting a leap of 7.58m (24-10.40) at the Big Ten Championships. The mark eclipsed the provisional standard of 7.45m (24-05.30). To gain an automatic place in the NCAAs, Wilson will have to jump 7.85m (25-09.10), which would pass his PR of 7.70m (25-03.25), achieved at the 2003 "Last Chance Meet" at Iowa State.
