Hoosiers Fourth, Overton Tied for Third at Hyatt

"It was one of those days," said Indiana head coach Mike Mayer. "We're just not real sharp right now, which is to be expected. It is our first time out, and we are playing against teams that have been competing in events. We are just a little rusty."
Leading the way for the Cream and Crimson is Jeff Overton. The senior fired a 2-under-par 70 for the second straight round and sits in a tie for third place with Jon David Kennedy of Georgia Southern heading into the final 18. Overton trails Aron Price of Georgia Southern by five strokes and sits two shots behind Ben Taylor of Georgia State.
Senior Heath Peters carded 16 pars but picked up a costly double bogey on the par-5 17th, a hole he eagled a day earlier. The Garrett, Ind., native shot a 75 and his two-round 145 total ties him for 16th place.
Junior Brad Marek and freshman Santiago Quirarte shot matching 76s. Marek ended the opening round with a 72 and enters the final round tied for 25th at 148.
Quirarte eagled the opening par-5 hole but struggled the rest of the way. Coupled with his opening round 73, Quirarte is in a tie for 30th.
Rounding out the Hoosier lineup, Scott Seibert carded a 79. The junior is tied for 41st with a 36-hole 151 total (72-79).
The Hoosiers conclude play tomorrow, March 8, with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
"Hopefully we can get it going tomorrow and make our way up the leaderboard. We need to shake a little bit of the rust off and play our best round," said Mayer.
