Senior Spotlight: Niles Madison

In the coming weeks, we will spotlight each IU outgoing-senior individually. The sixth Hoosier in the series is Madison.
Senior Year (2004-05)
Placed in the top three four times with top finish being an event title in the 200-yard backstroke against Evansville ... best overall meet was against Tennessee during IU's senior weekend in which he placed second in the 200-yard IM and third as the leadoff leg of the 200-yard medley relay ... set a personal best in the 100-yard backstroke.
Junior Year (2003-04)
At the Big Ten Championships, placed 20th in the 200-yard backstroke, 33rd in the 200-yard IM and 26th in the 400-yard IM ... placed 11th in the 200-meter backstroke, 17th in the 100-meter backstroke, 15th in the 400-meter IM and 10th in the 200-meter breaststroke at the Indiana Invitational ... garnered career-best performances in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 IM and 400 IM during the year.
Sophomore Year (2002-03)
Finished 20th in 200-yard backstroke (1:50.70) and 28th in 100-yard backstroke (52.92) at the 2003 Big Ten Championships...also took 35th in the 200 breaststroke at Big Tens...swam career-bests at the Indiana Open in both the 200 backstroke (1:50.40) and 100 breaststroke (59.16)...placed 11th at the Miami Invitational in the 200 backstroke and 23rd in the 200 IM.
Freshman Year (2001-02)
At the 2002 Big Ten Championships, finished 30th in the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.20), 34th in the 100 back (53.26) and 53rd in the 200 IM (1:55.90).
Prep/Personal
A member of three-time state championship swimming teams at Weston H.S., Madison placed first in the 100 back and second in the 200 IM in 1999, 2000, and 2001 ... a 2001 All-America selection, the three-time Weston H.S. Most Valuable Swimmer graduated with school records in the 100 back, 200 IM, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay ... a Junior National and U.S. Open qualifier in the 100 and 200 back as well as the 200 IM ... a Telecommunications major ... born April 13, 1983.
