Indiana rising junior Isaac Sowells will be one of four returning starters on the offensive line for the Hoosiers in the fall of 2005. IUHOOSERS.com recently had a chance to speak with Sowells following a recent spring practice.
On the atmosphere with the new coaching staff:
IS: "The overall atmosphere has been great, it's just fun to be here. Coach Hoeppner has a great personality and my offensive line coach [Bobby Johnson] makes me feel very comfortable."
On what part of his game he is trying to improve:
IS: "We have a whole new offense this year, so I'm just concentrating on my footwork. We are also working on our passing and running game because the scheme is completely different."
On how hard it was to miss seven games with injury last fall:
IS: "It was devastating because I wanted to play really bad and all I could do was just encourage my teammates."
On advice he gives to the underclassmen on-and-off the field:
IS: "The first thing I would tell them is to make sure they take care of their school work. On the field, I try to help the guys with their blocking assignments or technique."
On the offensive line this spring:
IS: "I feel great about these guys because we are experienced and very confident of our ability as a unit."
On newcomers we can look forward to seeing this fall:
IS: "I think Greg Brown is improving everyday and he is going to develop into a great defensive lineman."
On what he would like to do in his last year at Indiana.
IS: "I'm a team-first guy, so I want to go to a bowl game. Secondly, I would like to make All-Big Ten or even be an All American candidate."
