Between The Lines - Wahl

Sophomore Christy Wahl has shown her willingness to be a team player this year. Wahl has seen action in the circle, second base, shortstop, right field and as the designated player. As a freshman, Wahl was one of the Hoosiers top pinch-runners, finishing with 11 runs scored on the season. This year, she recorded her first collegiate hit and RBI against IPFW on March 20. Here is more on the versatile student-athlete from the Peach State.
Why did you choose IU?
I knew I wanted to go to a big school and IU provides me with the opportunity for a great education. I also really like the campus!
What other schools recruited you?
Univ of Georgia, Univ of Florida, Univ of Kansas
What is your most memorable softball experience and why?
When I was 14 we played at a qualifier in North Carolina to get to Nationals
for my travel team and I was the only pitcher. I pitched three games that day, after getting hurt, to help get my team to nationals.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
My parents are the two most influential people in my life. They believe in everything I do and will always be there to support me no matter what.
If you could go back in time and meet one person, who would it be and why?
My grandfather and my Dad's older brother who died when he was young. I want to meet them because my Dad seems to have admired them a great deal.
If you were given a million dollars, what are the first three things you would buy?
I would buy something special for each of my family members to repay them for all they have given me throughout the years.
Any Superstitions?
I wear a ribbon in my hair on game days
If you could give advice to a young person who wants to become and athlete, what would it be?
Be strong-willed and determined. Always give it everything you have but don't let it define who you are as a person.
