Northwestern (27-9, 9-0) plated three runs in the first and added another three in the second to take an early 6-0 advantage.
The Wildcats put the game away with four runs in the sixth inning.
Indiana (12-28, 2-5) was hitless until the fourth, when sophomore Kim Richards led off the frame with a single to right field.
Richards ended the day at 1-for-3 while freshmen Rachel Carlson and Janetta Deaven were both 1-for-2.
Eileen Canney (15-4) picked up the victory with five scoreless innings. She allowed just two hits and a walk.
Junior Mariangee Bogado (1-6) took the loss for IU. She pitched four innings giving up six runs, five earned, on seven hits. She also struck out six and walked one.
Indiana and Northwestern will conclude its two-game series with a single game tomorrow. Game time is set for noon.
