3 Qualify for Regionals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--Three Hoosiers met the regional qualifying standard in their respective events to help win the Indiana Relays crown for the second-straight year. The outcome of the meet was a close one, as Indiana only held a one-point advantage heading into the final event, the 4x400m relay. With the relay victory, Indiana finished with153 points. Army garnered second place with 150 points and Central Michigan finished third with 60 points.
Jake Wiseman got things started for the Hoosiers in the morning session as he tossed a regional qualifying and personal best mark of 63.07m (206-11.00) in the javelin.
Senior All-American Aarik Wilson continued with his winning ways, claiming the triple jump title with a regional qualifying leap of 16.26m (53-04.25). Kyle Jenkins was a second-place finisher in the triple with a mark of 14.94m (49-00.25).
Indiana dominated and took up the top five spots in the 200m led by sophomore David Neville who regional qualified with a time of 20.98. Following Neville was freshmen Keith Heerdegen (21.56), Doug Dayhoff (21.71), sophomore Trey Warfield (22.03) and freshman Jacob Moylan (22.13).
Junior Ryan Ketchum tossed the third best mark in the discus among the mideast region this season with a career-best 58.52m (192-00.00). Ketchum's mark also ranks second in the IU record books.
The IU freshmen had a solid day of competition as Ryan Smith powered to a victory in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 54.52 and Heerdegen captured the 100m title in at 10.78. Moylan finished in third in the same event with a time of 10.83, while Tyler Bush (59.74) and David Lengar (1:05.82) finished sixth and eighth, respectively in the 400m hurdles.
The Hoosiers return to action on April 9, when they travel to Eugene, Ore., to take part in a quadrangular meet, the Pepsi Invite. Indiana will go up against Oregon, Missouri and Washington in a scored meet.
