Big Tens Round One (4/21/05)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Indiana women's golf team sits in 10th place with a 320 after the opening round of the 2005 Big Ten Championship. The second round will continue Friday afternoon, and can be followed on Golfstat.com or by CLICKING HERE.
Senior Bethany Brunner led the Hoosiers in round one. Playing in what possibly could be the final tournament in her career, the Martinsville, Ind., native carded a 4-over par 76, to begin Friday's second round tied for 10th overall. Junior Molly Redfearn also cracked the top 30 after the opening 18 holes, collecting a 79, which presently puts her in a tie for 27th.
Freshman Elaine Harris shot an 82 and is tied for 47th, while junior Katie Carlson is one stroke behind Harris with an 83. Two freshmen round out the Hoosiers, as Stephanie Mayotte (91) and Gennifer Marrs (92) are currently are in 64th and 66th, respectively.
Ohio State is leading the event with a 297, followed by Purdue (301) and Michigan State (306). The Boilermakers' Onnarin Sattayabanphot is the overall leader heading in the second round of 18 on the day. She holds a one-stroke lead over several golfers with an even-par 72.
The second round will conclude Friday evening, followed by 18 holes on both Saturday and Sunday.
