LoVecchio, a two-year starter for the Hoosiers, completed nearly 57 percent of his passes for 1,951 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2004. LoVecchio set a school record for single-game passing percentage at Illinois. The Franklin, N.J., native completed 15-of-17 passes for a percentage of .882 against the Illini.
Halterman played in nine of Indiana's 11 games last fall, catching six passes for 62 yards. The Center Grove, Ind., native has proven to be both durable and versatile throughout his college career, starting 32 of the last 33 games of his career. During his sophomore season of 2002, the 6-5. 260-pound Halterman started all 12 games at tight end, played a key role on special teams and also saw action at defensive end due to injuries and lack of depth.
Durable and versatile also describe Jahnke, a 6-5, 310-pounder who played center, guard and tackle throughout his career. He ended his collegiate career with 35 consecutive starts, including the first four games of 2004 at right guard and the last seven at center.
LoVecchio, Halterman and Jahnke are three of the five 2004 IU football seniors who are moving onto professional playing opportunities. Wide receiver Courtney Roby was a third round draft pick of the Tennessee Titans, while safety Herana-Daze Jones signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.
