Ketchum Wins Shot

Philadelphia, Pa.-- Junior Ryan Ketchum provided excitement for the Indiana men's track and field team at the 111th annual Penn Relays as he captured the shot put title (college men section) with a mark of 17.97m (58-11.50). Ketchum also competed in the discus championships and took home an 11th-place finish after heaving a 49.06m (160-11.00).
In other events of this prestigious track meet, sophomore Stephanos Ioannou came in 10th place overall in the 110 meter hurdles with at time of 14.42.
Three Hoosier relay teams also competed on Friday as the 4x400 squad (3:11.52) finished second in their heat, the 4x100m (42.17) finished fifth in their section and the distance medley relay team clocked in a time of 9:38.84, which landed them a 12th-place finish in the event.
At the Drake Relays, Aarik Wilson dominated the competition in the long jump as he took home a first-place finish with a season-best mark of 7.88m (25-10.25).
Wilson, the defending indoor NCAA Champion bested second-place finisher Leonidas Watson of Oregon by 11 meters (7.77m/25-06.00).
