IU Hosts Saint Louis (04-08-05)

IU and Saint Louis have met each of the last two seasons with the Hoosiers picking up victories in both affairs. The Cream and Crimson defeated the Billikens in Bloomington during the 2003 campaign, 2-1, before picking up a 2-1 overtime victory in St. Louis last season.
"Saint Louis will be a good challenge for us," Indiana head coach Mike Freitag said. "They are always a strong team that is well coached. I am sure they are like us in that they are experimenting a little bit, but they have quality players and a quality program. It will be a good contest as part of our Coaches Symposium."
The Cream and Crimson opened the spring with wins over Lindsey Wilson (2-0) and Bradley (3-0). Redshirt freshman Kevin Noschang led the way, scoring three goals in the two games. He netted one tally against Lindsey Wilson and two against Bradley. The Hoosiers also got a goal from junior midfielder Josh Tudela against Lindsey Wilson and one from junior forward Jacob Peterson against Bradley. Sophomore Chris Munroe and junior Nathan Scherpenisse started in goal and earned the shutouts against Lindsey Wilson and Bradley, respectively.
The Hoosiers' spring features a six-game schedule. IU will have two more home matches after going 2-0 to open the spring and two others in Indianapolis. The Cream and Crimson will close out the spring by hosting the Mexican Youth National Team in a friendly exhibition, Tuesday, April 19th at 7:30 p.m. IU will partner with the Indiana Youth Soccer Association in benefiting the Latino soccer programs around the state of Indiana. General admission for the game is $5 with children under 6 receiving free admission. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or by calling the IU Athletic Ticket Office at 866-IUSPORTS.
