Hoosiers Headed To NCAA Championships

The second round tilt will be on Saturday at 3 p.m. EST.
IU, currently ranked 37th in the nation, will make its fourth NCAA appearance in the last five years, and 22nd overall trip to the Championships. All 22 NCAA journeys have come under the direction of 28-year mentor Lin Loring.
"We are excited to be in the tournament," Loring said. "To make the tournament for the 22nd time in school history is just a testament to the quality players that have played for Indiana."
The Hoosiers and the then-No. 30 Demon Deacons met earlier this season, with IU claiming a 6-1 win in Bloomington on Feb. 12. Indiana secured the doubles point and claimed singles victories from five players, including senior Dora Vastag and junior Sarah Batty triumphs over ranked foes.
"We would have liked to seen a team that we hadn't played before this season," Loring said. "It was arguably our best match of the year and we will go into this contest with confidence, even though they are ranked higher than us."
Kentucky, ranked third in the nation, closed the year with an overall ledger of 23-5. IU lost 6-1 to then-No. 7 U-K on Feb. 20. Marshall won the Mid-American Conference Tournament finals and earned the league's automatic bid.
The winner of each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The team championship will be held May 19-22.
