Overton Captures Ninth Career Big Ten Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golfer Jeff Overton has been named one of three Big Ten Golfers of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. The honor is the ninth of the senior's career and his second this season.
The All-American shares the laurels with Robert Rohanna of Penn State and Ben Greve of Minnesota.
Overton earned his seventh career individual title and his second this season (Xavier Invitational, Oct. 11-12) at the Fossum/TaylorMade Invitational hosted by Michigan State on April 30-May 1, finishing in a tie with Greve. The senior concluded the tournament at 210 (68-67-75), while Greve (70-74-66) stormed back with a 6-under 66 to clinch a share of first place. Overton also claimed the championship at the 2004 Fossum.
The Evansville, Ind., native closed out the regular season with a 70.25 scoring average, which is on pace to break the school's all-time record he set last season. Overton also has recorded a score of even par or lower in nine of his last 12 rounds and has shot in the 60s four of his last six rounds.
Overton and Indiana return to the course this weekend, Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, for the Big Ten Championships. The Big Tens will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin and will be held at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. Eighteen holes will be played each day with tee times beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday and at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
