Killion and Bennett Honored

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Indiana junior wide receiver/kickoff returner Lance Bennett and senior outside linebacker Kyle Killion were each recognized by two national preseason publications.
Bennett was named first team all-league kickoff returner by Athlon's. Bennett closed the 2004 season ranked third in the country and first in the Big Ten with a 29.95 kickoff return average. Additionally, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Oregon on Sept. 11. The return was the second longest in the history of IU football. It was also the first kickoff return for a touchdown since Derin Graham had a 90-yarder vs. Kentucky on Sept. 19, 1999.
The special teams juggernaut finished the year ranked sixth in the conference and 41st in the country with a punt return average of 10.9.

In addition to his kickoff duties, Bennett returned a punt for a touchdown 94 yards against Michigan State on Sept. 25. The score broke the school record of 93 yards set by Steve Porter against Wisconsin on Oct. 24, 1970.
Killion was named the nation's 11th-best outside linebacker by Lindy's.
Killion established himself as one of the Big Ten's top linebackers. He garnered career highs in tackles with 107 (71 solo, 36 assist), tackles for loss (16.5), sacks (5), interceptions (2) and forced fumbles (2).
Killion also led the team with two fumble recoveries and tackles for loss while ranking second in tackles, sacks, interceptions and forced fumbles.
The Kingwood, Texas, product was second in the Big Ten with his 16.5 tackles for loss and fourth in the conference with his 106 tackles, an average of 9.6 per game.
